John is a writer, consultant and campaigner. He is a well-published author and trenchant critic of the care sector regulator, writing from a systemic perspective; for example, ‘What’s wrong with CQC?’ and ‘Why I won’t be sending the Care Quality Commission a Valentine’ (Centre for Welfare Reform, 2017). Also ‘Leading Good Care: the task, heart and art of managing social care’ (Jessica Kingsley, 2015).
